Affirmative Action…

What do you think of this:  (this post is open to anyone visiting this blog)
For years South Africans with black skin were not allowed to vote, to attend certain schools, or to travel outside of their country.  Now the  government has an “Affirmative Action” law which means (generally speaking) that a South African person with black skin has to be hired before a South African person with white skin.

Africa- events of the past…

Africa is not one place.  There are many factors influencing the development of the various countries on the continent, and despite Bob Marley’s plea, (see video) it has been hard for countries to unite and to work together.

Using what you have learned, comment here on how both geography and foreign settlement has affected Africa.  Refer specifically to what you know about the Swahili Coast (Zanzibar, Tanzania) and South Africa.  The information from the Leopards of Zanzibar video, and the short story, The Old Chief Mshlanga, should be used.  You may also respond to other students’ comments.

I suggest writing the comment in Word, and pasting the text into the blog.
